Different spelling Hayati

Saalaamun alaykum,

as my diving research is ongoing,

I confront a doubt. Just need to ask, perhaps this was been treated before, and I don't get to unlock.

I got two different spelling with the word Hayati-Hayawati.

Surah Al-Kahf. 18,45 ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا(reference from quran.com, as well in my Qur'an book) and الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا (reference qurancorpus)

Does this waw, with an alif, mean or add another meaning?

Thanks in advance

Salaamun Alaykum,

Refer to YT165 To learn the Distinction between the two orthographic spellings.

I must add, these terms were not discussed before if I may say so but if, it has, I ask anyone to contribute

hope this helps.

I think it’s safe to say that you can apply the same rule for short alif here for the word hayati since it does in fact have a short alif. At this point I don’t know if the letter waw changes its meaning in any way.

Could you remind me what the short alif indicates? And can you also remind me what hayati dunya means? Is the short alif referring to people in the afterlife or in the earthly-life? And is hayati dunya a reference to the scripture?
