Salamun Alaikum:
In YT86 (Timestamp 44:45 to 47:05), Dr. Hany explained Ayah 20:71 (pharaoh's threat) as:
I shall (Sa-la-ba) 'crucify' in accordance with (the legislative rulings) of the trunks of the palm trees.
where trunks/offshoots are followers of messengers AND crucifixion is the punishment in the law of the messengers for disloyal, anti-state, spies etc
In YT91, Dr. Hany expounded the meaning of Sa-la-ba to do with intercourse (Ayah 4:23) and biological lineage (Ayah 26:49)
This leads to the conclusion that the Ayah 4:157 is not talking about EIM's crucifixion. So far so good.
Then there is a hint for Ayah 5:33 [YT91 - Timestamp 1:19:40 to 1:20:45] that Allah is ordaining the punishment of Sa-la-ba (among other punishments) for those who take up arms against Allah and His Messenger.
Please correct me if I have completely misunderstood the hint - but it has been troubling for me to accept that Allah is asking muslims to change the blood lineage of the wrong-doers - which I am assuming the receiving party wouldn't be "willing" to do.
Applying this meaning back to Ayah 20:71: Pharoah is also affirming that the previous messengers also had the same punishment for the wrong-doers - and he is following their legislative rulings by letting the females live and creating "hardship" for them.
I will appreciate any thoughts and guidance on this.
JazakAllah Khair.

Just wondering if the seerah of Rasulullah SAWS gives better insight and tafseer of the meaning of that word salaba.
Recall the punishment to the Jews in Medina who betrayed their covenant and fought against their Nabiy, Muhammad SAWS, and the punishment was death and their women became slaves? The seerah (I stand to be corrected) how Sofiya’s husband and her father was sentenced to death as their punishment for colluding with the enemies to kill their Nabiy. And Sofiya was taken as a slave.
I am not good at seerah, perhaps someone else can share their insights.
